UAPA Membership

Membership in UAPA offers numerous benefits and keeps our members on top of important, ever-changing issues, trends and legislation within our industry.

Many of our members, however, believe the greatest benefit of being a member is the networking and camaraderie between members within our organization. The owners and employees of your company benefit, and membership also makes a positive statement to your customers. Engagement in your trade association demonstrates your commitment to staying abreast of current developments in the industry. If you are a member, we thank you for your continued renewal and if you are not, we hope that you consider joining.

I have been a UAPA member since 2012 when our local chapter was started. At the time, the asphalt industry in Utah needed a set of standard specifications for the state and local municipalities. The primary goal at the time was to standardize and limit the amount of specifications being used. This would close any loopholes and provide higher quality pavements to the customers. After some of these changes were made, we discovered we needed to present our findings to owners. UAPA became the platform for industry “lunch and learns,” which have become very popular and great platforms to educate owners on what is happening in our industry. These range from short presentations, to boots on the ground watching the work being performed. The Utah Asphalt Pavement Association has grown from its original eight members to over 100 members. We now consist of producers, suppliers, paving and maintenance contractors, consultants, cities, and DOT. With this growth we now have the industries’ best of each section representing us on committees and helping guide the industry improvements. It has been exciting to watch as this association has grown and continues to grow in our state.

Producer Members

A producer member is any person, firm, joint venture, corporation or entity who or which is capable of manufacturing, producing or supplying asphalt mixtures in the State of Utah.

Supplier Members

A supplier member is any person, firm, joint venture, corporation or entity who or which is capable of producing and/or supplying asphalt binder products in the State of Utah.

Associate Members

An associate member is any person, ﬁrm, partnership, joint venture, corporation or entity who or which provides service equipment, contractors, material suppliers, emulsions suppliers, transportation services, consulting engineering ﬁrms, testing labs, sub-contractors or others.

Affiliate Members

An affiliate member is any person, firm, joint venture, corporation or entity who or which is engaged in the asphalt industry or that is ineligible for producer, supplier or associate membership status.

City/County Members

A City/County member is any person, ﬁrm, joint venture, corporation or entity who is a government agency.

I get to meet people through UAPA that I never would otherwise. We work a lot with cities and the networking within UAPA helps me work with clients.

I truly believe that when we come together as an industry, we amplify the best of the collective, and we all benefit. As an industry we are more educated, more professional, and I think we all see more business as a result. The association lets us take a step back, and as a board and organization, we can work “on” the industry, as well as “in” the industry.

I believe that membership in UAPA has been a tremendous help with our relationships with our clients. By engaging with the trade group that our customer base is allied with, our existing customers and potential customers see us as allied with them - which we are. It’s good for us, and good for them, as we now have common ground. We share a purpose that is higher than just the day-to-day operations. We share a common industry vision.

The educational opportunities are exceptional. Their events are some of the best I have attended within the asphalt pavement industry.

Construction is an industry where you learn by doing … especially when it comes to pavement preservation. There isn’t a degree in how to best preserve pavement; you learn from those who have experience in the industry. Membership in UAPA is a great way to find mentorship and gain industry specific education.”
