UAPA $1500 one-time annual scholarship application

The Utah Asphalt Pavement Association’s Scholarship Award helps to ensure the future of the asphalt pavement industry in Utah. Its purpose is to support students residing in Utah who are pursuing a degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Utah.

Awardees will be selected using standard recipient selection procedures as developed by the UAPA Scholarship Committee based on application. Awards shall be based on demonstrated need, scholastic achievement, and a demonstrated commitment to support the mission of the Utah Asphalt Pavement Association (UAPA).

How to Apply

In addition to submitting a completed application form, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit no more than a one-page essay (single spaced) on why they feel they should receive this award and a letter of recommendation from a professor and/or a UAPA Member. This information could include, but is not limited to, their experience in the asphalt pavement industry in Utah, why they may be applying for this scholarship, what their plans may be for after they graduate, and how the award of this scholarship to them may benefit the asphalt pavement industry in Utah

Deadline for submittal is due by January 18, 2025. Awardees shall be notified via phone and email and are invited to attend the Morning General Session of the Utah Asphalt Conference in March 2025.

NAPA 2022 Acott/Wilson scholarship application

Establishment of Scholarship

The Acott/Wilson Asphalt Industry Scholarship was established in 2019 from contributions from Bob & Ellen Thompson to honor Michael Acott and the Wilson Family’s many accomplishments in the Asphalt Industry. The Acott/Wilson Scholarship is managed under the auspices of the NAPA Research and Education Foundation (NAPAREF) Scholarship Program, a 501(c)3 organization.

Instructions and Due Date

Applicants must complete the attached application and submit to the NAPA Research and Education Foundation via e-mail to dlucas@asphaltpavement.org or mail by December 15, 2022. This application will be used to evaluate applicants for scholarships for the 2022 calendar year. The scholarship amount will be updated each year that the scholarship is awarded. All applications must be postmarked or sent via e-mail no later than 12/15/22.

Scholarship Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Age will not be a part of the criteria.
  • All who meet the criteria should apply and can re-apply each year.
  • Applicants must show that they have applied, been accepted and enrolled (for the semester that they are applying for).
  • Personal Essay (around one page)
    Written entirely on your own, describe why you should be chosen for the award and why you are interested in a career in our industry. Applicants may include any unusual personal, financial, or family circumstances which you feel may warrant special attention.
  • Recommendation
    Submit at least one letter recommending you for this scholarship from a teacher, employer (current or former), or community leader.
  • Transcripts
    Enclose one copy of your school transcripts (unofficial transcripts are accepted – high school or college).
